BMW has been appointed the “Official Luxury Motor Vehicle” for the prestigious SMBC Singapore Open, which will take place in Singapore at the Sentosa Golf Club from 28-31 January.
The tournament will see the participation of world class golfers including Jordan Spieth (current world number one and the winner of two Majors in 2015), who will be whisked around by a fleet of BMW 7 series and 5 series models.
“Golf is one of the three core sports supported by BMW, and we have a strong connection with the sport since our first professional golf tournament sponsorship in 1989. BMW supports golf tournaments around the world, from the amateur level to the pinnacle professional tours,” said Mr. Axel Pannes, Managing Director of BMW Group Asia.
“The SMBC Singapore Open has a rich heritage and is recognised as one of the premier golf tournaments around the world. We look forward to contributing to the tournament’s success and continued growth.”
“Performance Motors Ltd is delighted to be partnering with the SMBC Singapore Open, which attracts a highly selective audience from Singapore and the region. We are confident that the BMW cars will provide the attending golfers and VIPs with the highest levels of comfort, luxury and safety during their stay while being chauffeured in them,” said Mr. Horst Herdtle, Managing Director of Performance Motors Ltd.
Boasting prize money of US$1 million, the tournament is being co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour and Japan Golf Tour Organisation for the first time.
“We are delighted to welcome BMW on board as an important sponsor. They are a quality brand and an ideal partner for us,” added Mr. Patrick Feizal Joyce, Vice President, Golf, Lagardère Sports.
