Matthew Fitzpatrick, one of a new breed of outstanding English players making their mark in the game, is playing the SMBC Singapore Open for the first time.

He enjoyed a fantastic amateur career, highlighted by winning the U.S. Amateur Championship in 2013, that served notice of the heroics to come in the professional ranks.

He has won five times on the European Tour, his last victory coming at the European Masters in September where he successfully defended his 2017 title.

Notable among his other victories was the European Tour season-ending DP World Tour Championship in 2016.

The 24 year old represented Great Britain and Ireland in the amateur Walker Cup in 2013 and played for Europe in the 2016 Ryder Cup. He was on the winning Europe side at the EurAsiaCup in 2016 and 2018.
